Terms of Service

Welcome to the DepotBox Launcher. By downloading, installing, or using our application ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

1. Description of Service

The DepotBox Launcher provides two primary functions:

• External DRM Bypasses: The Service offers tools designed to bypass Digital Rights Management (DRM) for specific games, for educational, archival, and interoperability purposes. These tools are downloaded and applied to your existing game installation folders.
• Depot Downloader (Premium Feature): For Premium users, the Service provides a tool to search for, generate, and download Steam depot files (manifests) for archival, development, and educational purposes. The Service automates the process of placing these files into the appropriate folders within your Steam installation directory. This feature requires an external, user-installed copy of SteamTools to function.

The Service is provided "as-is" and "as-available" without any warranties, express or implied.

2. User Conduct and Responsibilities

You agree to use the DepotBox Launcher only for lawful purposes. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have legitimate copies of the games you modify with our Service. You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any illegal activities, including software piracy.
• Attempt to disrupt or compromise the integrity or security of our systems, servers, or networks.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service's backend infrastructure. The client-side application is open to scrutiny.
• Distribute malicious software or use the Service to harm others.

You acknowledge that using the Depot Downloader feature requires administrator privileges to write files to your Steam installation directory and an external installation of SteamTools. You accept the risks associated with these requirements.

3. Premium Subscription

The Premium subscription grants access to additional features, such as the Depot Downloader. This subscription is currently obtainable through community participation (e.g., Discord invites) and is considered a privilege, not a right.

DepotBox reserves the right to revoke any user's Premium subscription at any time, without prior notice, at our sole discretion. Reasons for revocation include, but are not limited to, violation of these Terms, malicious activity, abuse of service features, or any action deemed harmful to the Service or its community.

4. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The DepotBox Launcher modifies game files and system directories. While we strive to ensure the safety and functionality of our Service, you use it at your own risk. DepotBox and its developers are not responsible for:

• Any damage to your computer system, game installations, or loss of data that may result from the use of the Service.
• Any bans, suspensions, or other penalties imposed on your gaming accounts (e.g., Steam, Xbox Live).
• The functionality of any bypass or depot file, as game updates can render them obsolete.

Antivirus software may flag the launcher as a false positive due to its need for administrator privileges and its function of modifying files in protected directories. We assure you our application is safe, and our open-source client code is available for review.

5. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will do our best to communicate these changes, but it is your responsibility to review them periodically. Your continued use of the Service after any modification constitutes your acceptance of the new terms.
